1. Is the thicker and heavier the jumbo bag, the better it can bear the load?
From a technical manufacturing standpoint:
The thickness of the bag does not determine the load-bearing capacity, but rather the elongation - the tensile strength created by the raw material mixture and the yarn spinning system, new weaving machines determine the load-bearing capacity of the jumbo bag.
The most determining factor in the load-bearing capacity of the jumbo bag is the proportion of virgin PP granules in the material mixture. The higher the proportion of virgin PP granules, the greater the tensile strength and elongation.
However, to reduce the cost of jumbo bags, jumbo bag manufacturers may reduce the proportion of virgin PP granules, replacing them with recycled granules and CaCO3 powder. This means that the tensile strength and elongation of the woven fibers will decrease significantly. Therefore, to ensure the load-bearing capacity, the manufacturer must increase the thickness of the bag. Moreover, jumbo bags produced from this type of fabric will not guarantee reuse, durability over time, and safety factors due to the fact that the proportion of recycled granules always contains impurities, contaminants.
2. Is the thicker and heavier the jumbo bag, the higher the price?
In terms of logic, the thickness of the bag will affect the price of the jumbo bag. However, not always the principle is correct. It is necessary to analyze deeply, how the thickness is formed from the raw materials will determine the price of the jumbo bag. Because the cost of recycled plastic granules and CaCO3 powder, often used as cheap filler substitutes, is much lower than that of virgin PP granules.
Therefore, the price of the jumbo bag is mainly determined by the composition of the raw materials. Hence, a reputable jumbo bag manufacturer will advise customers on the most appropriate bag thickness for the necessary safety factor during use. Not too thick, not too thin, and the price of the jumbo bag will be the most reasonable.
3. Will a jumbo bag with a wider strap width bear the load better?
The tensile strength of the jumbo bag strap is determined by the strap weight (gr/m2). Therefore, it cannot be said that a jumbo bag with a 7 cm wide strap will bear the load better than a jumbo bag with a 5 cm wide strap. This is only true when both types of straps have the same weight.
And in practice, a wide strap but low weight, due to low weaving density, although still able to withstand the force for bag weight, is prone to be cut by the sharp corners of the forklift.
A reputable jumbo bag manufacturer will design the most suitable type of strap for customers and the load-bearing capacity will always be surplus to the bag load to ensure safety in operation. Additionally, the strap can be reinforced with a layer of PP at the contact point of the forklift.
